Derek got his start in real estate in Kansas City back in the early 2000s. Working for a major team in the Metro area he learned the skills necessary to provide excellent client service. But after a few years he longed to get back home.

A Manhattan native, Derek grew up going to K-State Football games on the weekends with his family. He married Cory, his highschool sweetheart and they started a family and now have 3 boys of their own. Football tickets are getting more and more expensive!

Derek worked for a local Broker but after a couple of years became restless. Knowing he had the knowledge to develop other agents he was eager to break off on his own.

Alliance Realty began in 2011 and has now grown to 18 Agents! Derek set out to not just build a company that can boast 70 million in annual production, ranking #2 in the market out of dozens of area brokerages, but more importantly he set out to create an atmosphere where his agents were excited to come to work everyday. Derek will tell you that the atmosphere created the results not the other way around.

After building a wildly successful brokerage, most entrepreneurs would be satisfied but Derek sees growth as a lifelong pursuit and has broken out into other things. A fierce advocate for all things Manhattan, he wanted to turn his resources to giving back to the community that has given so much to his Family.

In Early 2022 Derek and Cory purchased the Ag Press Building and have plans to make it into a vital community shopping, dining and event venue space. Derek is encouraging everyone in the community to get involved and is eager to chat with local business people who have any ideas to offer.
