I was born in Topeka and grew up in the small town of Auburn in southwestern Shawnee County and graduated from Washburn Rural High School.

After receiving scholarship offers from the University of Colorado and Drake University in Iowa, I came to Manhattan to visit. I had been to Manhattan a few times for football games, but never really spent a great deal of time here, so I didn’t know what to expect.

My parents and I stopped to go to Pizza Hut before our appointments on campus, and the moment I got out of the car I was overcome with a feeling that I was home. This is where I belonged.

At K-State, I studied political science and worked at The Collegian, the award-winning student newspaper, ultimately serving as the Editor in Chief. It was at the Collegian where I met the woman who would become my wife, Katie Lane, a Manhattan High alum.

After living in Wichita and Auburn for a few years — while sitting on the patio at Rock-A-Belly — we sort of impulsively decided we needed to move back to Manhattan. So, with our then 2 year-old twin daughters Grace & Claire in tow, we made Manhattan our permanent home in 2012 and haven’t looked back.

In 2015, our family added Henry. The five of us live at Tuttle Creek lake and couldn’t be happier.

I serve on the board of Habitat for Humanity, HousingMHK, Manhattan Area Resettlement Team and the Sunflower Children's Collective.

In my free time, I spent time with my kids and I love to care way too much about the Royals and K-State sports.
